What types of organisation can subscribe to this service?

All types of organisations that are connected to Belnet can benefit from WAN Connectivity.

How do I get WAN Connectivity?

  1. Contact the Belnet Service Desk at servicedesk@belnet.be (if you are already a customer, don't forget your acronym). The Service Desk will put you in touch with our Customer Relations Team.
  2. An Account Manager will take a look at your needs and arrange an appointment if necessary.
  3. You provide us with the addresses of the sites and technical requirements (bandwidth/internet/L3 (default) or L2) specific to the site, as well as the contact person(s) (with telephone number).
  4. This information is sent as an order to our third-party provider.
  5. Our provider will draw up a quotation based on your information.
  6. If you are happy with this proposal, please sign it and return it to us (we accept a simple scan).
  7. We will then ask you to return two completed and signed copies of the contract to this address:

    Belnet - Customer Relations Team
WTC III, Boulevard Simon Bolivar, 30 B-2
    1000 Brussels.
  8. As soon as we receive your order, we start the purchasing process and the implementation.

How long does delivery take?

Once you've accepted the quotation and signed the contract, delivery takes between 2 and 22 weeks, depending on the situation. It usually takes 6 weeks on average.

What is Belnet's role?

In 2022, the Council of Ministers agreed that Belnet should take over the management of WAN connections between the federal public services in Brussels and their regional sites. Belnet is therefore in charge of the management of the federal government's WAN network. If you're not a federal public service, Belnet can also take care of the administrative and technical management of your WAN.

What processing of personal data applies to this service?

You can view the details of our policy for the processing of the personal data of registered users of the WAN Connectivity service client (linked to the base connectivity contract) on this page.

What is allowed under the second part of the framework agreement on the provision of connectivity services?

The second section of the framework agreement allows us to order lines from a third-party provider, unlike our classic Belnet Leased Line system. This part is intended for WAN connections with many sites and low bandwidth.

What contract lengths are available?

1, 3 or 5 years.

If I have a contract with Proximus, who is responsible for terminating the contract?

Belnet terminates the contract, which also means that the equipment can be collected from that point on. Of course, Proximus will agree with a member of your department when this will be possible.

What is the financial process involved in relocating decentralised sites?

If some of your decentralised sites are relocated, you will not be charged for two lines, only the installation fee. We recommend that you give us sufficient advance notice so that we can prepare for the move.

How can I cancel the service?

Signing the contract commits you for a period of 1, 3 or 5 years. At the end of the contract, there are three options:

  1. If you have signed a fixed contract (1, 3 or 5 years), you can only cancel your WAN Connectivity at the end of the contract period by giving three months' notice.
  2. If you decide to cancel WAN Connectivity during the term of the contract, you will be required to pay a cancellation fee corresponding to the remaining monthly instalments of the contract.
  3. If you sign a variable contract of 4 or 5 years with a minimum of 12 months, you can cancel your WAN Connectivity at any time (after the first 12 months) by giving three months' notice. In this case, no cancellation fees will be charged.

Who do I contact if I encounter a problem?

Belnet is the single point of contact for anything related to the WAN. Contact the Belnet Service Desk by email (servicedesk@belnet.be) or by phone (+32 (0)2 790.33.00). Your case will be followed up by an Account Manager, who will redirect you to an expert if necessary. In the event of an incident, your ticket will be handled 24/7 by our third-party provider, who can visit your site if necessary.

What are the invoicing terms?

The service is provided for a period of one, three or five full years and is invoiced by Belnet in the first quarter of each new calendar year. The new rates are automatically adjusted.

In the event of a new connection or a change of service provider during the year, you will receive a prorated invoice for the remaining days of the calendar year, and the amounts already invoiced for the year will be recalculated.

Since 1 July 2007, Belnet has been subject to VAT on its paid services. Belnet's VAT number is BE 875.396.690.
