Belnet as a driving force for progress

Digitisation is increasing exponentially every day. This offers new opportunities, but also new challenges. As a National Research & Education Network (NREN), Belnet helps Belgian knowledge institutions and governments to seize the opportunities of digital acceleration. With the country's most high-performance Internet connection and related services, we are a driver of scientific and social progress. This is a mission we are proud of and one to which we are committed every day.

Your inquisitiveness and personality are key

How? By being very close to our customers. And by a firm commitment: at Belnet, we take our public responsibilities seriously. Expertise, satisfied customers and social impact are, therefore, more important to us than commercial targets. That is why your inquisitiveness and personality are central to the job. Belnet offers the flexibility and autonomy you need to develop both professionally and personally. So we give you every opportunity to progress.

Every colleague at their best

At Belnet, we realise that all of this is only possible if every colleague is at their best. That is why we are 100% committed to balance. Between work and life, because a job at Belnet fits in with your life - and not the other way around. But also between result and job satisfaction: we are professional, yet informal. We are full-blooded techies but strive for the human touch in everything. Belnet employs around 80 people.

On your first day, you will be welcomed by an HR employee so that you get to know our organisation and operations. You can always contact HR with any questions you may have. After that, we will provide you with the technical equipment: an ICT colleague helps you install your laptop and your mobile phone. Finally, your team manager will also be there to introduce you to your team and your tasks. To help you find your way and inform you about safety procedures, you will also be given a guided tour on your first day. That way, you will get to know the various facilities, such as the gym.

You will also be assigned a Belnet Buddy from the start: someone from a different department to give you extra support in your first weeks. You can always go to this person if you have any questions or doubts. Your buddy will contact you in your first week at Belnet.

In the following weeks and months, you will receive an information session from each department. That way, you will get to know the ins and outs of our organisation better and better and you will gain an overall picture of how our organisation works. Last but not least, to make you and possibly other new employees feel completely welcome within our team, we also organise a welcome drink with all colleagues.
