Strengthening our network so that it is as efficient and reliable as possible is a constant concern. A recent operation to renew the optical backbone of the Prime Minister's Chancellery allowed us to set up a new Belnet PoP in the heart of Brussels.

On Tuesday morning January 14, an incident occurred on a part of the Belnet network. Our teams have made every effort to restore the connectivity of our customers as quickly as possible.

Belnet will completely renew the optical backbone of the FPS Chancellery of the Prime Minister. The project allows the Chancellery to make its ICT service offering available to other government organisations more efficiently and more quickly. In this way, Belnet further strengthens its role as a trusted connectivity partner of the federal government.

Through our status page we want to inform our community more quickly in the event of incidents on our network or disruptions in our services.

Last month, Belnet increased the capacity of its primary connection to GÉANT to 100 Gbit/s. The upgrade is part of a general review of the external connectivity of our network. Its implementation has been accelerated in order to respond better to the needs of one of our affiliated research centres.
