The coronavirus crisis is having a major impact on the way universities and colleges are working. In order to allow its students to remotely attend and review lessons, the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB) will use a podcast service in the new academic year. The university approached Belnet to implement this service quickly.

With the start of the new academic year, universities and colleges of higher education are facing major challenges. Because of the coronavirus crisis, and the unpredictability of its course, many educational institutions are opting for an approach in which education on campus is combined with distance learning.

Among other things, the ULB is using the podcast service "EZplayer" to steer its digital education activities in the right direction. Thanks to this service, students can attend lessons remotely. The university approached Belnet to host the service.

Unique collaboration project

Belnet's role focuses on providing a monitored hosting service: Belnet provides the hardware, storage space and a service adapted to the customer's needs. Initially, our teams developed a temporary solution with existing servers. It is already fully operational, allowing the ULB to use the service at the beginning of the new academic year.

At the same time, Belnet will purchase and install new hardware so that the ULB will soon be able to enjoy an even better service and higher capacity. In addition, ULB will be able to count on sophisticated 24/7 monitoring to keep track of the service's performance at all times.

This unique project was made possible thanks to the excellent collaboration between the ULB and Belnet teams and their flexibility and commitment. Belnet is proud to be able to support its customers in their operational activities, even in these difficult circumstances.
