Use the ‘GÉANT IaaS Framework agreement’
You have been able to use the ‘GÉANT IaaS framework agreement’ for several years now. This gives you the choice between different Infrastructures as a Service (IaaS) providers.
Such IaaS platforms offer highly scalable resources that can be customised on-demand. They are ideal for academic research characterised by workloads that are temporary, experimental, or subject to unexpected changes.
These cloud solutions also let you save costs by eliminating the need for major investments in IT infrastructure.
In addition, the agreement offers numerous advantages, such as discounts, (including egress waivers), pre-agreed general terms and conditions, and support from the GÉANT cloud team.
Belnet will guide you through the introduction with the suppliers. During the operational phase, you follow the contact procedures of the respective suppliers for all your administrative, financial, and technical questions.
In addition to this already existing cloud framework agreement, a successor is being worked on; this new, more extensive framework agreement is expected to be available from Q1 2020. Discussions are currently underway with Microsoft, AWS, Google Cloud, and other players.
